brownnoteI’ve been thinking about starting a blog for some time now. However, I always wondered about what I could say that would make people want to read, come back, and even engage. And then I realized that every day, sometimes more than once a day, something happens to me that is worthy of reflection. Then I began to wonder if these things weren’t useful in some way. For example, do they represent an opportunity to build a connection with others? Could they maybe be funny, or even disturbing enough to prompt positive action? I don’t know. I guess we will see. I just hope that my readers will walk away a little bit inspired to pay more attention to the things that happen to THEM.

And the name of this blog? Well, as a writer I am always thinking about book ideas. To me, the most important part of a book is the characters in them. Without a strong set of interesting characters, a book just lies there. So… the name of my blog… “Characteristically Speaking.” You will find that the reflections are characteristic of me and my ideas and beliefs. But I hope, too, that the things I write about will be reflective of the character of others. And who knows? Maybe they will breathe life into a new character who steps up and shines in a book.

Thank you for being a part of my little blog. I look forward to the journey we will make together!

I have a ton of ‘bookmarks’ – and this Sunday morning I re-discovered this link and spent time and coffee with your reflections here. Jenn. Though it’s been decades, I hear your ‘voice’ while reading your words. I particularly smiled that you included J.P Sartre here, Indeed, you have a lot of original philosophic musings 😉

With all good wishes and fond memories,
